AERSA presenting Eco Smart HVAC at FRIGAIR 2025

Get ready to experience the future of climate control at FRIGAIR Expo 2025, where AERSA will unveil its forward-thinking theme: ‘Eco Smart HVAC’ (#ecosmarthvac#). As the HVAC industry moves toward a greener, more sustainable future, AERSA is focused on next-generation refrigerants that offer low or zero ozone-depleting potential. With the phase-out of traditional refrigerants already underway, the spotlight will be on eco-friendly alternatives—like R290 and R1234ze—that are gaining traction in Europe as replacements for R32.

At the heart of AERSA’s stand at FRIGAIR Expo, is a showcase of innovative, eco-conscious HVAC technology—led by the PRG0332XHDEJ02 unit model, which features R290 as its refrigerant. Known for its exceptionally low environmental impact, R290 boasts a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3 and an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of 0, making it one of the cleanest options currently available. Despite its flammability, its performance is unmatched in sustainability. The PRG0332XHDEJ02 unit delivers a powerful 70kW of both cooling and heating capacity and can generate hot water temperatures up to 75°C, offering a robust solution for large-scale, eco-friendly heating and cooling needs.

Also on display is the HMI 160T unit model, which uses R32 refrigerant—still widely considered a cleaner option in the South African context when compared to legacy gases like R410A and R134a. Designed for smaller-scale applications, this compact unit offers 12.9kW cooling and 15.6kW heating, with an output temperature of up to 60°C—ideal for residential homes and small office environments, particularly where reliable and efficient domestic hot water systems are needed. In addition, this unit is a full inverter – meaning inverter compressor, inverter fan and inverter onboard hydronic pump. It is quiet and has low power input due to it being an inverter.

A highlight of the stand will be AERSA’s demonstration of Oxycom Natural Air Conditioning, a groundbreaking line designed to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of traditional HVAC systems. Oxycom’s two-stage evaporative cooler, which uses water (R718) as its refrigerant, embodies the ultimate in eco-efficiency. The first stage involves sensible cooling via a coil, while the second stage features adiabatic cooling through a specially designed aluminium Oxycom coil, further reducing temperatures without any synthetic gases. To bring this innovation to life, the unit will be powered live on-site, with Ductsox fabric ducting used as the diffuser adding an elegant, aesthetic finish to the display.

In addition, visitors can explore the RPF heat recovery units, specifically engineered for commercial environments where maintaining comfort and optimising energy use are paramount. These systems address the growing need for forced ventilation, often associated with increased energy waste due to the loss of conditioned air. Thanks to a cross-current heat recuperator, the RPF units can recover over 90% of that otherwise-lost energy, offering a practical and sustainable solution for both horizontal and vertical installations, and seamless integration with fan coils, chillers, and all-season systems.

The AERSA stand will also feature information on complementary technologies including the FCY fan coil unit, the KS1000 fibreglass storage tank, and the Serviceable Plate heat exchanger—ensuring a comprehensive view of smart, sustainable HVAC solutions for a variety of applications.

AERSA serves the commercial, industrial, retail, agricultural, residential, and public spaces (such as hospitals and sports & leisure) industries. Visit them at FRIGAIR 2025, Stand C6.
